Shopify · Agentic commerce readiness

Your products can be live and still not be ready for agentic commerce.

An evidence-first, read-only audit of your Shopify store across the public storefront and Shopify Admin, so you know what's configured, what's blocked, what you control, and what to fix first.

Six areas, one prioritised answer

Catalog eligibility

Plan and environment signals, plus the authoritative Shopify Catalog state.

Product data

Up to 25 products deep-reviewed - titles, descriptions, organisation, images, identifiers, variants, availability, mapping.

Policies and trust

Terms, Privacy, Return/Refund and operational policies, checked for cross-surface consistency.

Knowledge Base and answerability

Whether an Admin-managed answer layer exists and how coherent it is.

Technical discovery

agents.md, llms.txt, robots, product URLs, sitemaps and structured data.

Checkout and conversion

Product format, payments and markets, availability and buyer-handoff dependencies.

Active, attractive, publicly accessible products are not proof that a store is ready for Shopify Catalog and agentic shopping surfaces. Store-level, policy, availability, Catalog, channel and answer-readiness conditions can all sit unresolved behind a storefront that looks finished.

The question isn't "do my products exist?" It's:

  • What is actually configured?
  • What is blocked?
  • What can you control?
  • What stays controlled by Shopify or another platform?
  • What should you fix first?

A public scan can see usable product pages, policies and a sold-out or available state. It cannot establish the decisive facts inside Shopify Admin — your plan/environment, the authoritative Shopify Catalog count, Catalog Mapping state, agentic channel activation, Admin policy completeness or Knowledge Base status.

This audit combines both: a public scan and an authenticated, read-only Admin audit, reconciled into one prioritised answer — without changing your store.

  • A controllable-readiness score (Audit Rubric v1.0, 100-point) — issued only when evidence coverage is sufficient.
  • Evidence-coverage % so you know how much was verified vs. not verified.
  • Five independent blocker gates — Catalog, policies, channel, product-policy, checkout — so a strong content score can't hide a blocking defect.
  • A channel-state table — labels each surface live, eligibility-dependent, early access, unavailable or unknown.
  • Product/Catalog reconciliation for the agreed sample.
  • Prioritised findings — each with observation, official basis, supported interpretation, safe action and retest.
  • A 30-day remediation roadmap with owners and dependencies.
  • A retest specification (no retest result unless a fix is separately approved).
  • A redacted report and a 30-minute readout.

Before the deeper work, two store-level essentials decide whether AI agents can see and trust your products — so they lead the readiness checklist:

  1. Make sure catalog access is enabled — Allow your products to be searchable by AI agents.
  2. Update policies — Update your policies so AI agents can read them.

(Getting these right improves readiness. It does not guarantee inclusion, appearance, ranking or sales — those stay controlled by Shopify and each AI channel.)

  1. Qualify — you share the details below; we confirm scope and whether read-only access or a screenshare is possible.
  2. Public scan — observable readiness and the list of what needs Admin verification.
  3. Authenticated Admin audit — read-only; we verify Catalog, channels, policies, mapping, Knowledge Base and checkout dependencies.
  4. Reconcile & prioritise — evidence becomes a scored, gated, prioritised report.
  5. Readout — a 30-minute session to walk through findings and the roadmap.

Access: minimum read-only Shopify collaborator access, or an owner-led screenshare. We never ask for your password and never access customer or order data.
Delivery boundary (proposed): five business days · one factual clarification round · one 30-minute readout.

  • We assess and improve controllable readiness. We do not guarantee Shopify Catalog inclusion, eligibility, appearance, ranking, recommendation, traffic, sales or checkout availability — those stay controlled by Shopify and each AI channel.
  • The base audit is read-only. No store changes, policy authoring, legal advice, app installation, channel activation, inventory, Markets, shipping, theme or code changes.
  • Different AI channels behave differently; we don't claim identical behaviour across ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Meta or Shop.
  • We don't claim that schema, llms.txt, a Knowledge Base, UCP, ACP or MCP alone activates or ranks a store.
  • Channel and policy facts are refreshed against current official Shopify/OpenAI sources before any engagement.
  • Implementation, if you want it, is a separate, capped quote after the audit — with a change log, rollback notes and a retest.

In an internal methodology test, ten products were Active, published to three channels, priced, categorised, imaged and described, backed by 185 unique SKUs — yet Shopify Admin still showed zero products in Catalog. The authenticated audit traced that to store-level and configuration conditions a public check couldn't see. This is a redacted methodology sample, not a client case study, and predicts no outcome.

Shopify DTC owners, ecommerce managers and agency partners who want a defensible, evidence-based read on Catalog and agentic-channel readiness — before spending on changes or assuming a channel is "on."
